Our Story
This is my gorgeous family. It's important I introduce you at this point, meet Poppy, DJ and my husband Danny. My husband was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at the tender age of 36. Motor Neurone Disease is a debilitating terminal illness which causes havoc within our day to day life. MND eats away at the motor neurones, the neurones which allow us to move and breath, until you can no longer move at all. The fact that the illness is progressive, means Danny's mobility and needs are forever changing - which means we need to adapt and overcome all the time. Once the illness really started to take it's toll, and Danny could no longer walk we needed a wheelchair. This was a massive blow and meant we needed to change our home a lot. Ramps, level thresholds, wet rooms, doors, hoists, etc etc. Its a lot to to think about, and unless you're actually living it and truly understand the challenges of accessibility around the house, it's a struggle to get right because even the most reliable tradespeople might not necessarily think about the little things that might one day just tip you over the edge! After years of first hand experience, I now know those little things, very well indeed.
